I usually stick to reviewing restaurants but I just have to give these folks some love.
We were camping on the beach in Ventura for the weekend and had a miserable time trying to fly a two-string kite. The thing just would not stay up in the air for more than 30 seconds. We crashed it so many times that we broke off a piece. I was for chucking the thing.
Then someone saw this place. We went in to buy a new kite; something that would actually fly. Buz, the kite maestro, said no, the kite we had was perfectly fine, we were just clueless about how to fly it. He repaired the kite for us and then gave us a 1/2 hour tutorial on how to assemble and fly a two string kite. No kidding! A full 1/2 hour. He even gave us a kite flying test! He was very serious about it; we would not get the kite until we passed the test... He must've spent an hour on all of this and it cost us maybe 15 bucks. He didn't charge for his lesson of course.
Buz has been flying kites for four decades and is a competitive kite flyer (didn't know they had competitions, but anyway). He really knows his stuff. We headed straight for the beach, about 100 ft from his storefront, followed his instructions and WOW. Here was this kite that we had been cursing at all this time and look at it go....
Kites are great fun but if you want anything more than a simple kite that you can hook up to your beach chair and forget about, you need to know how to fly it right. Visit Buz. He will give you an education.
Thanks Buz :-)
